JON BURCHETT

  • PHONE: (925) 938-0900 x2136
  • EMAIL: BurchettJ@mdusd.org

Jon Burchett has been teaching at Northgate since 1997. He teaches Government/Economics and Honors Government/Economics. He is the Teacher Coach of Northgate's County Champion Mock Trial team, an adviser to the Northgate Stock Club, and a former member of the Site Council. He is also an assistant coach for the varsity baseball team. Burchett received his BA in Economics from UCSC (Go Slugs!) in 1985, traveled to Europe in 1986, got a JD (Law Degree) from UC Hastings College of the Law (Go Sharks!) in 1990, and practiced law for 4-5 years thereafter. After realizing that he and the practice of law were not compatible, he decided to become a teacher, as his best teachers were, along with Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, and Dad, among his childhood heroes. Burchett has been married to his beautiful wife for 20 years, and his 17 and 14 year old sons, Owen and Henry, are the cutest kids on the face of the planet, both in his humble opinion and in fact. He loves to coach and play baseball. He also loves golf, though he doesn't get to play much anymore, and cooking, which his lovely wife lets him do every night!

BRIAN CORBETT

  • PHONE: (925) 938-0900 x2131
  • EMAIL: CorbettB@mdusd.org

Brian Corbett grew up in the town of Felton, California, just outside of Santa Cruz.  He traded the redwoods for the beach to attend college at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and graduated in 2003 with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in History.  He then - somewhat reluctantly - traded the beach for suburbia and moved to Walnut Creek to begin a career as an accountant.  Two years of cubicles, ten-keys, and "TPS Reports" was plenty, and when an opportunity to jump straight into the classroom came in 2006, he took it.  He taught for three years at El Dorado Middle School, six years at Clayton Valley High School, and came to Northgate in 2015.  In June of 2015, Brian completed his Masters' in Educational Leadership as well as his Administrative Services Credential.  He is a dad to Ellie and Luke, and is thrilled to be teaching at his wife's alma mater - Northgate.

PAULA DILLON

  • PHONE: (925) 938-0900
  • EMAIL: DillonP@mdusd.org

Paula Dillon was born in San Francisco and grew up in various parts of the Bay Area, but mostly Alameda and Concord. After graduating from Clayton Valley High School in 1999, she attended UC Davis, where she received her B.A. in Psychology and Communications. After receiving her degrees in 2003, she floated around the corporate world for a bit, and after realizing that the cubicle life just wasn't doing it for her, decided to go back to school to fulfill her original aspiration of teaching history. She is fluent in Spanish, and has taught World History, AP European History, Psychology, US Government, and US History for the past 11 years.

When she is not teaching, she enjoys reading, travelling, camping, cooking, playing with her dog, Izzy, and spending time with her family and friends, but in reality she also spends way too much time doing endless amounts of laundry. She is married to Matt, and is a proud (and very busy) mom to her two kids, Iris and Evan.

SCOTT HARRIS

Scott Harris was born just down the street from Disneyland. He lived in Garden Grove for six months before moving to Concord. He then lived in The Netherlands for four years where he learned to speak a little Dutch (all forgotten) and wear wooden shoes. He returned to the Bay Area, where he attended Woodside Elementary School, Oak Grove Middle School, and Clayton Valley High School. He then enjoyed two fruitful years at Diablo Valley College before heading to San Diego State University. He not only earned a BA in Social Science with a minor in Music, but he also has college credit in surfing.  He triumphantly returned to the Bay Area once again, this time to work at a music store selling pianos, guitars, and sheet music. Soon after, he went to work at El Dorado Middle School for 14 years, teaching history, English, and yearbook. He joined the Northgate staff in the fall of 2012 and is currently teaching US History and International Relations. When he isn't working, he reads books and comic books, paints, creates and listens to music, takes lots of amazing photos, plays video games, and great movies, and takes the best vacations ever during the summer. Scott Harris is pretty much the greatest human being who ever existed.
